[edit] Introduction
The Jedi Order is a way of life strongly based on that of the Shaolin (Origin of Kung Fu), Buddhism,and Hermetic Principles & Techniques. The base principle of the religion is the Force. The Jedi extend past the sum of its parts in that a Jedi sees reality as merely a mixture of numerous other realities. How these realities interact is what others feel is reality. The difference is that a Jedi sees reality as a formless and shapeless substance with many properties similar to Water. Through studying oneself, a Jedi is able to understand the world around them as they see it. They are able to see how other Qi interact with the Jedi. This interaction is what is called the Prime Material. To fully understand this we must begin with understanding that there are three basic layers of the continuum.
[edit] Divine Plane
There is the Divine Plane and this is the Force. A few have mistaken the nature of the planes to suggest that they themselves are Divine. However, as you will see, we merely have a spark of the divine within us. Each Qi is a separate and distinct individual because the Creator made this so. A Qi's Ego is what gives it free will. An Ego is your free will. As the saying goes: "I think, therefore I am".
[edit] Spiritual Plane
Then there is the Spiritual Plane and this is where the Qi originates. The Spiritual Plane is merely a mental construct of the Divine. The nature of the Qi, as apart of the Spiritual Plane, is how it has a fundamental bond with the Creator. This answers how the Spiritual Plane exists if the Divine can neither be created, destroyed, or divided.

Finally, there is the Prime Material which is the focus of a Qi in life. The Prime Material is similar the Spiritual Plane in that it is merely the mental construct of the Spiritual Plane itself. The Prime Material is merely the first four dimensions. The other dimensions exist at the same time as the other dimensions but at different frequencies. Think of tuning a radio and you will begin to understand how the other dimensions are merely out of phase with the first four. The eleventh dimension is the divine and it is where gravity originates. Everything that you interact with has a spiritual component. With this knowledge you may begin to understand how gravity is simply apart of the Divine. This is why Gravity can appear as weaker than other forces in the Prime Material. This is because it must move through all the other dimensions first.

Some may have trouble understanding the three planes and especially the idea that it is a mental construct. Admittedly it is one of the hardest concepts a Jedi seeks to understand. Yet Science itself is beginning to help us understand that everything is made of energy. Quarks make up Photons, Neutrons, and Electrons, which in turn make up atoms. Atoms are the fundamental building blocks of Matter. Yet Quarks, Photons, Neutrons, and Electrons are all forms of energy. Once more, science is also beginning to understand that all Quarks are waves of string so to speak. They vary in length and that is how they differentiate themselves. Quarks are very much the wool that the tapestry that is the Prime Material is made of. Now you can begin to understand how everything is the Divine and the Divine is the Force. Another hard lesson is to accept that The Creator, Force, and Qi are all the same and yet all are distinctly unique. A similar concept to the Holy Trinity of Christianity.

There are many different Fields of Study. The most common being, Art and its various subgroups. The focus of all of these groups vary, but all use science as a method of understanding when possible, the intended field of study. The Jedi Order has a very simple ranking system that is based upon how your peers view your progress in the study of the Force.
